Our Mission: To awaken the world to the wonders of all of our beautiful differences. To spread the awareness that all of us are the same in our desires for a good home, food, safety and the comfort of being accepted regardless of appearance and/or beliefs. With that awareness comes the joy of embracing all that others different from ourselves have to offer us in endless numbers of ways!

Who are we? Two concerned citizens who decided to combine our talents and skills to make a difference.

Dr. Leo Parvis

Dr. Leo Parvis:
“After 9/11, my life as a Persian-American changed forever. People treated me oddly. I took to wearing an American flag pin every day to show my loyalty as an American citizen. The day after President Bush delivered his "axis of evil" speech identifying Iran as one of the U.S. enemies, I was laid off from my job - one week after receiving an outstanding performance review and service recognition! This was very disturbing. I began pursuing diversity-related opportunities, leading me to my present career.”

Dr. Leo, our company president and diversity director, a Christian Persian Democrat, teaches cultural diversity, diversity in the workplace, and global studies at Dunwoody College in Minneapolis. He writes a monthly column "Eye on Diversity" for the Chaska Herald (for the past 14 years). Dr. Leo was the recipient of the 2007 Outstanding Alumni Award for Walden University for his contributions in creating social change in the diversity field (he earned his Ph.D there in 1998). He has made multiple diversity-related presentations, keynote speeches, and conducted many diversity trainings. He also does diversity-related consulting for organizations who don’t know where to start to incorporate diversity appreciation and inclusion.

He served on the Board of the League of Minnesota Human Rights Commissions, and the Chaska (Minnesota) Human Rights Commission. Dr. Parvis is a past member of the National Association of Multicultural Education, the National Association of Ethnic Studies, and the International Leadership Institute. He earned his Distinguished Toast Master designation in 2015. He is a diversity consultant, speaker, and author, currently working on diversity materials for various age levels. See the fifth version of his book, "Understanding Cultural Diversity in Today's Complex World" in our online store.

Julie Parvis

Julie Parvis: “I grew up in a home where we were taught to be very accepting of people. My mother grew up in California and had many diverse friends. She taught my sisters and me to appreciate ethnic foods, music, and more. One of my favorite TV shows as a kid was about Nurse Julia, played by Diahann Carroll, and I also had a "Julia" doll. It was very natural for me to go into the diversity field. I have written 4 diversity-related children's books, with plans to write many more.”

Julie is an award-winning marketing diva who has won over 77 marketing & design awards. She is also a writer who is an overweight Lutheran Democrat, with a Scandinavian, Native American, Syrian, Basque, Irish, English (and probably more!) background with a life full of an amazing array of diverse friends and family. She loves to write fiction, both novels and children's books, including diversity-related books. Her nickname is "Feisty" and she has also created the Feisty Women Network for women to empower other women. She loves to plan marketing strategies and do creative copy-writing, as well as fiction writing. She is absolutely passionate about the importance of appreciating diversity, and in fact, during her senior year in high school, her friends predicted she would marry a foreign man, and she did! She is our marketing director, editor, web master and sometimes graphic designer.

They decided it was time to get serious about their strong belief in the power of embracing diversity and take action. Their backgrounds in education, marketing and diverse interests, led to the development of the "Embrace Diversity" logo, "diversitypromotions.co," their publishing company “Embrace Publications,” and the establishment of "National Diversity Day." Together, they have created a number of diversity-related books, products & websites.

Our hope is that our logo will become the international symbol of embracing differences in our multicultural world. With this symbol to communicate diversity, we are in the process of expanding our product line of T-shirts, lapel pins, mugs, decals, temporary tattoos, etc. so that organizations, corporations, and individuals will be able to spread the word:

"Embrace Diversity, Embrace our World!"©
